Promoting Equality & Respecting Diversity – Our Commitment
Tayside Police is committed to the provision of a quality service that is fair, accessible and meets the needs of all individuals. Tayside Police has as one of its objectives "to ensure that our communities are safe and feel safe". To this end, each division has staff who are committed to working within the Community Planning and Community Safety Partnerships within each local authority area. We also recognise that equality and diversity issues cannot be 'bolted on' or considered as after-thoughts. They must be an integral part of all decision-making and policy development processes. We also recognise our accountability to the public we serve and we will continue to identify and tackle any internal inequalities and promote good community relations. As such, understanding the different needs and demands of our diverse communities is recognised as an important part of Tayside Police's Objectives. We aim to deliver on this commitment by • Ensuring that all our functions, policies and procedures are inclusive and non-discriminatoryTo ensure that our functions, policies and procedures are non-discriminatory, Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) are carried out during the completion of new policies or during the review of existing policies. These EIAs are published alongside our Force Policies on the Freedom of Information section of this website. Our various equality schemes and other relevant equality and diversity related documents are published here for your information. We encourage our service users to take an interest in what we do and inform and influence our policies and activities by providing feedback on an ongoing basis. This is how we can work together to create the kind of police service that you can have confidence in.
